The alternative Device Manager

Post by Lugrain »

Hello everybody,

DeviceTool is an alternative device manager for Windows 10 / 11 that has now been downloaded over 200,000 times. DeviceTool was developed because the built-in device manager in Windows no longer worked remotely under Windows 10. Microsoft has since followed suit with the Admin Center, but this does not detract from the popularity of DeviceTool, as it is small, handy and fast.

The features:

Display devices
- Displays all Windows devices (similar to the original Device Manager)
- Displays the most important properties of the device
- Displays devices from remote computers extremely quickly
- Filters for device classes for a better overview
- Updates automatically (manual update with F5)

Enable / disable devices
- Switches devices on or off using the right mouse button
- Also switches devices from remote computers on or off

Usage
- Can be started via command line (with host name and filter word as parameters)
- History of the last computers
- Language selectable (english/german)

DeviceTool queries the installed devices via WMI (Windows Management Instrumentation) and displays them graphically. Port 135 must be open on the client for this.

Questions about the DeviceTool can be discussed in this forum. Of course, suggestions are also welcome.
