Import from text file or Excel

Post by Supporter »

Hello everyone,

the question (or request for improvement) arises from time to time as to whether and how data from a text file or Excel can be imported into the PingTool. In principle, this is already possible in the current version 3.0.0.24.

This is how it works:
1. Copy text with IP addresses or host names to clipboard
2. CTRL-V in PingTool

Example text:

192.168.178.1
PC0388
Catalyst9200
10.5.1.1
10.5.1.6
10.5.1.7

This also works:

192.168.178.1 FritzBox 7590
PC0388 PC in the production hall
Catalyst9200 Switch
10.5.1.1 Router
10.5.1.6 Fileserver
10.5.1.7 Printserver

Only the first word (up to the space) is taken into account. In the next PingTool version, everything after the first word will be included in the description.

And from Excel:
1. Simply copy the cells with the host names or IP addresses to the clipboard.
2. CTRL-V in PingTool

If there are any suggestions for improvement - keep them coming!

Best regards
