Sending configurations

Post by Supporter »

Hello everyone,

with PingTool version 4.3 it is possible to easily send configurations - the objects I am currently pinging - to other users or computers.

Why should you do that?
Well, often you are working with a team on a problem and everyone wants a list of objects in their PingTool that are relevant as quickly and easily as possible - especially in the event of failures. An admin has already created the list and wants to pass it on to colleagues.

This is where sending objects comes into play: using the 3-dot menu (...) or the button with the two green arrows, you can send your current configuration to other users or computers. The other party then receives a request as to whether it wants to receive the configuration (Accept, Add or Reject). You can also send individual objects of the configuration, namely those that are currently selected.

What's behind it?
The question naturally arises as to how it works. Quite simply: Every PingTool client that has a repository set up and the Transfer directory underneath it asks at regular intervals whether a configuration exists for it. This is therefore a simple polling via a directory.

How do you set this up?
All you need is a repository (a file share in which PingTool objects can be stored) and the “Transfer” directory underneath it. You can find out exactly how to do this here: https://ping-tool.com/send-configuration.html
